What is the difference between a bounty and a project?

In the hackathon page, it says Participants can submit each project for a maximum of three bounties. I am struggling to understand the difference between a bounty and a project. So, there are 9 bounties. Does it mean that my team can attempt a maximum of 3 challenges?

Yes there is 9 bounties in total, and you are able to combine them if it makes sense for your project. You can combine a maximum of 3 bounties for 1 project. Of course, you can also build 1 project for 1 bounty
